Weekly Update - Testing Time

Hello, Blog readers!

Today shall be posted about the progress acquired throughout this fourth week of the Integrator Project.

Continuing the progress from the previous posting, the brass dowel was developed to be posteriorly used. Therefore, its machining was accomplished in wednesday, inside the SENAI CIMATEC© institution labs.

With the dowel machining done according to the E8M regulamentation, the test subject was created and ready for the material characterization.

As decided between the Project participant teams and the Mechanical Engineering course coordinator Guilherme Souza, the data will be shared between them. Therefore, all the groups should, using the same test subject generation parameters, the stress-strain analysis in the same day.

With the stress-strain analysis done and the results acquired, the next step would be the calculus memorial for the final objective: shear stress calculation and rupturing rivet's measurement.

With the MathCad(c) and SolidWorks(c) softwares, the calculus documentation and rivet estimating over a d variable was created. Parameterizing for this end, we had our issues over other rivet parts measurements.

At friday, we had a meeting with our guiding teacher Maurício Camargo, for progress updates and question answering.

During the meeting, the calculus memorial progress was discussed. Having numbers for distortion and force applied to its shear (preset as 20kN strength), the diameter shall be searched. The safety value was set to 1, because the main objective of the system creation is the rupture at the estipulated strength, and not only its resistance. The free will for the maximum rivet foundry was also highlighted, considering that there is only a minimum limit. However, the guide emphasized that practicality is something to be polished: something that accomplishes the specifications is necessary, although the practical and simplier to be created. The Norton (Machine Projecting - Projeto de Máquinas) reading was indicated, for further rivet measurement.

That is all! We are grateful for the attention.

Best regards,
