Weekly Update - Metallography and Qualification

Greetings, Blog readers!

Today, we will discuss about the progress done in the Integrator Project's sixth week.

This week, as demonstrated in the Picture 1, the test subjects' metallography was executed. The objective of the tests revolve the identification of the internal structure through macro/micrography exams of a sample. Therefore, it will be possiible to study the cause of the great data difference between the tested subjects during the destructive tests.

According to Laboratory Testing Inc. (2015), "the metallography is the science dealing with the identification of the constitution and structure of metals and alloys by use of low-magnification, optical microscopy". Therefore, there is a preparation of the sample analysed in order to identify its microstructure. Waiting for the results, that should be ready next week, the polishment process was executed in rotary machines with water sandpaper of 180, 400 and 800 points of granularity, respectively.

With the sample polishment process concluded, it was took for verification in the optic equipments.

We will be awaiting for the results, and we'll update you for more information throughout the weeks.

We appreciate the attention!

Best regards,
